Our love for storytelling began long before we photographed our first wedding. Through years of traveling and exploring the mountains and deserts of the Southwest, we fell in love with documenting the people, places, and moments that make our lives feel so alive. Since becoming parents, that passion has only deepened. Watching our own family grow has reminded us just how quickly life changes and how meaningful it is to preserve both the milestone moments and the quiet, in-between ones.

How to plan your Durango Elopement
We understand how difficult it is to plan an elopement because we planned one for ourselves! Here are a couple of steps to help you get started.

Dream big! Do you want to get married outside? Do you want it just you two? Do you want to get married in the summer? On a mountain? Write down your dream day.

Now that you have your dream elopement written down, start building out your dream day. Research vendors, hone in on your location, activities you want to incorporate on your day, figure out what traditions you want to create together, and who you want to be with you on your day.

Now that you have a rough idea of your elopement day, book it! Book your wedding planner, florists, hair and makeup, catering, wedding photographers and videographer, and any other vendors you may want to include during your day!

Why a Durango Wedding or Elopement?
Yes, while we are photographers in Durango, Colorado, we serve the whole Four Corners Area. Like Sante Fe, Telluride, Ouray, Albuquerque, Pagosa Springs, and Moab. But Durango holds a special place in our hearts! Here’s why:
Reason #1: Your Guests Will Love It
Durango, Colorado is loved by everyone. Your guests will be able to make a vacation out of your wedding, tacking on a few extra days to see the town or go on an adventure. Popular outings for visitors include riding the Durango Silverton Train, rafting/fishing the Animas River, skiing or biking at Purgatory Resort, or going out for a camping/backpacking trip.
Reason #4: The Photos will be incredible
This is our favorite part. Obviously we’re Durango wedding photographers but we choose Durango, Colorado for a reason! Whether couples are eloping in the mountains or getting married at an established venue, there will surely be incredible views for photos. Especially for couples who love nature, Durango is the perfect place to take some incredible outdoor wedding photos.
Reason #2: It’s Affordable
Durango is an undercover mountain town. While it’s every bit as gorgeous as Aspen or Crested Butte, not nearly as many people know about it. That keeps prices low from wedding vendors. Including hair, makeup, catering, photography, and venues. Speaking of venues, there are some incredible and affordable places to get married. Some of our personal favorites are the River Bend Ranch, Silverpick Lodge, and Purgatory Resort.
Reason #5: Every Season is Beautiful
Winter, Spring, Summer, and Autumn are all equally wonderful in Durango. Winter weddings come with blankets of snow, Spring with blooming plants, Summer with alpine flowers, and Autumn with fall colors. Summer is definitely the busiest season for weddings in Durango. If you’re looking to save some money or experience the San Juans in a different light, consider another season!
Reason #3: It’s Easy
Colorado keeps all the legal stuff very simple. You simply walk into the La Plata County Clerk and Recorders Office on Everett Street, hand over a $30.00 fee and get a marriage license in return. Colorado also requires no minister. Couples are able to self solemnize.
Reason #6: Endless Elopement Locations
Our favorite thing about living in Durango is the endless beautiful mountain and desert scenes you can explore! We spend all of our free time out hiking, biking, skiing, and getting after it outside. So we know all of the amazing natural scenes in Southwest Colorado and Southeast Utah to elope. Want to hike to an alpine lake? Want to have beautiful mountain scenery but leave the hiking boots at home? Or a dreamy desert elopement? We are all about the adventure!

My husband and I cannot say enough great things about Colt and Hannah! They are extremely personable, generous, friendly, and so talented! From the very beginning of working with them for our elopement, they had every detail planned out to help us along the way, which was so helpful since we live across the country. Colt and Hannah went above and beyond for us. We hardly knew they were there on our special day, and they were very flexible. It is difficult to narrow down some photos of theirs to create an album because they are all incredible!! Thank you Colt and Hannah for capturing our elopement so beautifully!

This may be my favorite review to leave, ever. I couldn't have had a better experience with them. Our photos were truly unique and different from others I've seen. They are so passionate about what they do, it really carries over to their craft. However, what was even more special for us was having them there on our wedding day. They eased all of us, our own marriage jitters but also my mom's anxiety about the weather. Everyone was more at ease with them. They really helped us navigate it all. Colt was our wedding officiant and put so much love and thought into it. He really nailed our love story, and we were all crying. We didn't just get any photographers for our wedding, Hannah and Colt were a part of our family and made some of our favorite wedding day memories, and for that I will be forever grateful for them.
