ADVENTURE WEDDING IN THE SAN JUAN MOUNTAINS IN SILVERTON, COLORADO

Clear, blue bird morning, glowing aspen trees, big mountain views - Molas pass in the San Juan mountains is the epitome of Colorado wilderness, and it shone big for Megan and Hunter’s wedding day.

In planning for this day, Megan and Hunter knew they wanted adventure and togetherness as the highlights. Laid-back but epic, quiet yet exciting, and full of intention and squeezing each other. So they planned their ceremony in the heart of the San Juan mountains. An intimate sunrise celebration with just two of their close friends, an afternoon at the Wyman Hotel (the perfect stay for a Silverton Elopement) for some newlywed cuddles, and a cold dip in the Animas river!

The morning was chilly and the light was just beginning to peak over the San Juan mountains when we met in downtown Silverton. We left the cozy morning at the Wyman Hotel and caravaned up to Molas pass to the campground trailhead. They started the hike slowly, bundled up in their warm puffies, dogs running around, taking in the landscape of the Weminuche Wilderness, and being present with each other on their wedding day.

A short hike to the ceremony site, Megan and Hunter, walked to the edge of the granite bluff, big smiles on their faces and love in their eyes. Their officiant Shane began the celebration. Megan and Hunter shared their vows, teary eyed, hand-in-hand. Their sweet puppy Holly joined every once in a while for belly scratches and kisses. It was perfectly them. Then the sun began to shine through the evergreens, warming up our bodies, and creating a magical moment as they officially became one. And of course followed by a shot of tequila to seal the ceremony!

We scooted back to Silverton to further celebrate at the Wyman Hotel. A vision from a Wes Anderson film. So beautifully designed that it was making my design brain scream with pure happiness. Not only is it a dreamy night’s rest, but also a gathering space that promotes community and togetherness. Not to mention, the natural light that shines through the historic hotel is every photographer's dream.

We ended the day with a frigid dip into the Animas river so Megan and Hunter could figuratively and literally take the plunge into this beautiful new adventure in their lives.

We couldn’t help but feel so lucky to be a part of their love story. Being present at such an intimate moment in someone’s life is an absolute honor. To capture the emotion of the moment, the couples personality and silliness, and to witness two people's love for one another as the promises to be each other's support, shelter, and love… it's powerful stuff! We leave the day feeling inspired and more in love every damn time.
